2003 Clarendon Hills Hickinbotham Vineyard Syrah
Region: McLaren Vale, SA
Rating: 96 Points - Robert Parker
Summed up by Robert Parker..."Notions of melted tar, blackberries, liquid minerals, and charcoal emerge from the inky/purple-colored 2003 Syrah Hickinbotham Vineyard. Revealing a meaty richness along with great concentration, length, purity, and definition, it is a tour de force in winemaking. This amazing Syrah should age effortlessly for two decades. "

2005 Dalwhinnie Shiraz
Region: Pyrenees, VIC
Rating:
"An exceptionally concentrated and powerful wine, fully reflecting the low yields and the influence of the quartz, clay and gravel soils. These are not wines for the faint-hearted, positively demanding long cellaring but having the balance to repay patience." James Halliday. We think it carries delightful dark berry fruits with floral notes and a touch of liquorice and chocolate. Delicious! Limited!!

"Dark red purple in colour, dark berry and plum fruit, with soft mouth filling tannins, with a full palate and long finish. This wine is drinking beautifully now or with a bit of patience would benefit from cellaring for up to 10 years." Winemaker Colin Shepherd. Only 160 dozen produced.

1999 Giaconda Warner Vineyrad Shiraz
Region: Beechworth, Vic
Rating: 96 Points - Jeremy Oliver
Upon release, Jeremy Oliver wrote "Frightening, really, that such a wine could come from a first crop, but this is no ordinary Australian shiraz. Powerfully aromatic, its musky perfume of violets and briary dark cherry and plum fruit is both spicy and peppery. At once savoury and almost sour-edged in its expression of penetrative black fruit, it's muscular in its extract of drying tannins but so finely balanced it could walk a tightrope." 2006 Glaetzer Wines Bishop Shiraz

2006 Glaetzer wines, despite the difficult vintage, are spectaculer. Bishop is a little more forgiving in price, but still has a fabulous cellaring track record.

2005 Jasper Hill Emilys Paddock Shiraz/Franc
Region: Heathcote, Vic
Rating:
"Another definitive Emily’s with its depth of colour, having the typical creaminess of new French barriques melded into a beautifully framed wine of elegant mouth feel, great length and a minerality from the shallower Cambrian soil over sedimentary rock. Abundant natural acidity and lots of ripe, supple tannins enable a very long life but it is still approachable now." Ron Laughton, Vigneron Limited!!
